Lagazuoi Photo Award
from 30th May to 28th August 2020

'Talking' images wanted, shots which reveal the Dolomites without any cliche

The photography contest Lagazuoi Photo Award 2020 - the first curatorial project of Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti, the  exhibition and cultural centre next to the top station of the homonymous cable car, at 2,778 metres above sea level - poses a challenge to photographers.

The scrutiny of a photographer deconstructs and reconstructs an image, narrates a reality, delves into our relationship with the world. This is the “mission” assigned to the candidates - the professional photographers selected to submit their works dedicated to the Dolomites for the Lagazuoi Photo Award.

The works entered in the competition will be centred around the Dolomites, with interpretations of images highlighting values such as accessibility, beauty and the sense of wonder that this setting is capable of evoking in those who observe it closely.
These are unconventional photos that bring originality to the iconography of the mountains.

An award conceived by Denis Curti for Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti

The prize was conceived and co-ordinated by the eminent photography expert Denis Curti. As photography collectors' market authority, in 2014 he founded STILL Fotografia. He is currently the artistic director of the Casa dei TRE OCI of Venice, the Festival di Fotografia (Photography Festival) of Capri and the SI FEST of Savignano sul Rubicone. In addition, he is a consultant of the Fondazione di Venezia (Venice Foundation) for the management of its photographic heritage.

The selection of the works

For the selection of the works to be entered in the competition, a distinguished jury of five judges has been called.
Besides Denis Curti, Stefano Illing, Nathalie Herschdorfer, Andréa Holzherr, Susanna Tamaro and Mario Calabresi.
