Final Workshop of the Lagazuoi Photo Award 2020

Anna Pastorello

The Photo Workshop "Lagazuoi Landscape Photographic Marathon", an adventure in the name of art and grand finale of the first edition of the Lagazuoi Photo Award,  reaffirmed the goal of the Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomiti: the Dolomites need to be reinterpreted and presented from an original perspective.

The participants were accompanied by two extraordinary lecturers: the renowned curator Denis Curti and the well-known photographer Olivo Barbieri, winner of the Lagazuoi Photo Award, as well as a  surprise guest, Maurizio Galimberti, whose style is known and appreciated all over the world.

Cortina d’Ampezzo, 6th September 2020_A top finissage with a surprise guest: the well-known photographer Maurizio Galimberti. The first Lagazuoi Landscape Photographic Marathon, the closing event of the exhibition dedicated to Olivo Barbieri, winner of the Lagazuoi Photo Award 2020, was a great success. The workshop, which took place last Saturday, September 5th, was full of inspiration for the participants coming from different regions of Italy. A real adventure at 2778 meters of altitude, at the Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomiti, one of Europe’s highest art galleries.

The registered amateur photographers spent an intensive day with theoretical and practical training in the midst of an extraordinary landscape and put themselves to the test in front of great personalities in this sector. At stake for the participants, a significant recognition: the best picture taken during the workshop will be displayed for a whole year in the lobby of the Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti.

On this path of artistic and technical growth, they were accompanied by Denis Curti, the  artistic director of the Casa dei Tre Oci in Venice and one of the most important European curators, Olivo Barbieri, an internationally known photographer, and Maurizio Galimberti, who is famous for his works of art made with a Polaroid.
His presence was a very welcome surprise for everyone.

Together with the engineer Stefano Illing, conceiver of the Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomiti, they rated the pictures taken during the workshop and selected the best photo taken by each participant. The most voted picture was taken by Anna Pastorello, who "shot a picture with a strong emotional impact without sacrificing precise formal aesthetics. Her picture conveys the charm of the mountains and the visual suggestions of contemporary art. It is a synthesis between feeling and profound view ".
And it is precisely this picture that will be exhibited in the lobby of the Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomiti and welcome visitors to a place dedicated to in-depth contemplation and the development of a "different", avant-garde view of the mountains.
