Thanks to the partnership with the IED – Istituto Europeo di Design di Roma, CFP Bauer - AFOL Metropolitana, the Istituto Italiano di Fotografia di Milano and the Officine Fotografiche di Roma, a selected group of young people are offered the opportunity to undergo a unique experience on the top of Mount Lagazuoi and win the Lagazuoi Photo Award - New Talents 2026.
In the reasons for the award, the jury highlighted how Ronny Pozzato’s stylistic choice, based on the recurrent use of the frame, succeeds in guiding the viewer’s gaze, immediately conferring strength and value on the subject of observation. While the gaze normally tends to embrace the breadth of the Alpine landscape in a dispersive way, "Sweet Release" instead leads to details that would otherwise risk going unnoticed, arousing amazement and deep emotions. The different frames take on different meanings throughout the project: in the first series of images, they blend in with the colours of the landscape, almost merging with the natural environment; in the second, the deep black evokes an inner dimension from which the gaze opens towards the light, while in the last series, the frame becomes the protagonist of the composition together with the landscape, placing the closest elements, such as stone or wood, and the grandeur of the mountains in the background on the same level. For the jury, the project thus offers a new way of looking at the world around us, stimulating curiosity and training the eye to grasp unusual perspectives and vantage points.
