The competing photographers

Francesca Formisano

She was born in Rome in 1991. After obtaining her diploma as a social and health worker, she undertook a three-year course at the Scuola Romana di Fotografia, studying photographic technique, the darkroom, visual language and digital post-production. She is the creator of collages and visual compositions in the Symbolist and Surrealist styles. In the following years, she collaborated with the world of fashion, creating commissioned photographic projects.  In 2025, she began attending Lina Pallotta's masterclass at Officine Fotografiche (Rome), continuing her research and artistic training. During the course, which is still ongoing, she chooses to photographically depict her delicate relationship with her mother. Francesca's work focuses on the concept of inhabiting, understood as the relationship between body and space. She explores the intimate dimension of identity, presence and belonging, using photography as a driving force for symbolism.
