Diario Dolomiti
Diario Dolomiti, "Dolomites Diary", is a photographic story which was created during some of my summer vacations. Here I tried to distance myself as much as possible from the typical cliché of holiday photos. In my attempt to get away from this, I used a number of strategies which often were not easy to put into practice.
Wanting to build a visual diary, intimate and personal, I tried above all not to neglect my critical and detached gaze as a photographer.
In this era of virtual socializing, of Internet sharing, it would (perhaps) have been easier to succumb to the tourist-photo temptation shooting the gorgeous postcard landscape pics I had in front of my eyes. Wonderful things which I could have shared directly on the Internet, on social media, to "celebrate" my best moments.
However, I decided to take my usual (and uncomfortable) work equipment with me on vacation, to give space and value to photography by trying to narrate and describe an inner and outer landscape made up of people, things, limits and boundaries but also of imagery.
I tried not to look at the spectacular landscapes as if they were a cage, which determines things in an absolute way, but as if it were a texture that nourishes the soul and I hope that the images realized in this way will also be testimony and memory.
