The mountains of the Alpine region, not just the Dolomites, have an extraordinary evocative power. I wanted to capture their physicality, their ability to mark the edge without being a border.
Physical places that are places of the heart and of the mind, which mark the landscape but do not fragment it, places which can be visited but not conquered nor, even less, owned.
My idea of the mountains is unavoidably related to their ability to show us our place, which is an audience seat in the economy of nature.
I've taken these photos over the past decade, in black and white or color, according to the kind of feeling generated by the view. I always wanted to emphasize the specific characteristics of the mountain groups, but I couldn't resist the temptation to dedicate a special place to some undisputed iconic protagonists of the Alps: the Dente del Gigante, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the Crozzon di Brenta. Places that tell of the intense relationship I've always had with the mountains.
