Comporre legami (Making connections)
Federico Dossi

2022 UHD Video (3 min.4 sec.)
Performers: Federico Dossi, Martina Andreoni, Beniamino Sciabica, Francesca Vigani

This work arose from the collection of WWI iron fragments found during hikes around Mount Lagazuoi.
Once food cans or used to build shelters and barriers in front of the trenches, at that time these were part of everyday life, and have remained behind as a testimony to their past.
Somehow, these pieces of debris represent the people who lived in this place and had to rely on these objects to survive. The arrangement of the pieces of debris formed during the video aims to convey the feeling of connection which arose among the soldiers.  As social animals, humans are necessarily related to others. Especially in borderline situations, having someone to share the fear or anger of being dragged away from their loved ones without fully understanding the real reason, gives them at least a little strength to go on.
The decision to have the debris arranged by different people is a call for a relay handover: what occurred in these places cannot be changed, but it can be remembered and told to those who come after us, spreading awareness among as many people as possible.
